Another Inkster, Johnson duel at The Legends Championship?

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - Becky Iverson started fast, Juli Inkster finished strong and Trish Johnson's consistency was critical. In the end they shared the lead after Saturday's first round of The Legends Championship on the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort.

Team United States went 3-1-0 in singles play on Sunday at Merit Club to capture the 2016 UL International Crown with a total of 13 points. The Americans edged out runner-up and #1 overall seed Team Korea by a single point.

Stacy Lewis (3&2 over Japan's Mika Miyazato), Gerina Piller (4&3 over Chinese Taipei's Yani Tseng) and Cristie Kerr (3&2 over England's Mel Reid) made up the six points Team USA earned in the final round. Lexi Thompson was the last of the Americans to finish and was defeated 2&1 by Team Korea's So Yeon Ryu, but it was Kerr's win that ultimately sealed the tournament.

Lewis said she and her teammates weren't going to change their mindset after losing both of their opening round four-ball matches on Thursday.

Max Homa erased a seven-shot deficit Sunday with a final-round 5-under 67 to squeak out a oneshot victory over Josh Teater and John Mallinger at the Rust-Oleum Championship at Ivanhoe Club. Playing four groups ahead of the final group, the 2013 NCAA Champion posted 13-under 275 and then had to wait nearly 45 minutes to see if it'd hold. It did as Teater, the 54-hole leader, was unable to make par at the last to force a playoff.

On the first day of play at the 2015 BMW Championship, Jordan Spieth recorded a hole-in-one, resulting in the donation of another BMW Hole-In-One Scholarship, a full, four-year Evans Scholarship worth $100,000. Spieth aced the 2nd hole, his 11th hole of the day, on Wednesday, September 17 at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, IL, with a 7-iron, from 184 yards.

First round play will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. Gates will open to spectators at 7:30 a.m. Due to current and expected inclement weather conditions, second round tee times are now scheduled from 9-11:01 a.m.

BMW of North America, the Official Mobility Partner of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), announced today that it will add the USA GOLF Federation to its roster of National Governing Body (NGB) partners in advance of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. BMW will provide mobility services including transportation assistance to the USA GOLF Federation leading up to and during the Rio 2016 Games.
