The Excitement Continues in 2004 at the "New" Innsbrook Country Club

Last year for the first-time ever, the FUTURES Golf Tour, the Official Developmental Tour of the LPGA, came to Northwest Indiana and to Innsbrook Country Club. Innsbrook Country Club is a private country club featuring one of the oldest and most mature championship golf courses in the area. The heavily-wooded course is also one of the most picturesque in Indiana, with twelve water holes formed by slow-flowing Turkey Creek and a big pond near the clubhouse. Over 80 different kinds of trees, many of them flowering, add to the course's unique beauty and character. Innsbrook also has a state-of-the-art practice range with four practice greens, located at various distances from the tees, and a large practice chipping area and sand trap. Mid-year in 2003, a major interior "face-lift" of the golf-course-view banquet facilities, along with the construction of a brand new sports bar were completed in time for the FUTURES Golf Tour. Towards the end of 2003, Innsbrook Country Club was purchased by two of its long-time members and leading area businessmen, Ron McColly and James Gagan. Their long-term plans are to keep Innsbrook private, continue making major improvements to the facility and golf course, expand membership significantly, and eventually develop the surrounding 60 acres of land into a gated community. The excitement at Innsbrook Country Club continues this year, with its new million-dollar Olympic-size swimming pool and water park, complete with slides and other special features geared towards families with children. The complex includes a well-equipped bath house and a screened-in recreation area with a snack bar. Two new championship tennis courts are also planned near the water park. Convenient new parking for the water park, tennis courts and the clubhouse will be paved on the site of the present tennis courts, opposite the main clubhouse entrance. A leading golf course architect will design improvements for the sand traps conforming to the latest ideas in golf course design. New championship-length tees will be added to many holes and the seven steel bridges that span Turkey Creek will also be improved. The FUTURES Golf Tour returns to Innsbrook Country Club on May 27-29, bringing with it an international field of some 130 women golfers vying for an "exempt status" slot for next year's LPGA Tour. This exciting professional tournament is open to the public to attend and tickets will be available for purchase prior to the event. Also, the Mercantile Bank Pro-Am golf tournament will be held Wednesday, May 26. A Pro-Am team is composed of four amateurs and one assigned FUTURES tournament player. (For more information on the tournament, or to reserve a team, call Mont Handley at the Lake Country Convention & Visitors Bureau at 1-800-ALL-LAKE.) Various new membership plans are available to suit your needs including single, intermediate and corporate membership programs. For more membership information, call 219-980-9060. The "New" Innsbrook Country Club is where you belong!
